Chinese Spring Migration

Dear Subscriber,

In 2017 – the Year of the Rooster – Chinese authorities expect holidaymakers to make 2.5 billion trips by land, 356 million by rail, 58 million by plane and 43 million by sea over the 40-day period, which starts on January 13 and lasts until February 21. This makes the Chinese New Year Spring Festival, or chunyun, is the largest human event on the planet.

End of the Bear

Dear Subscriber,

In the commodity world, many see all the bearish elements now priced in the market.

For grains and oilseeds, the present campaign is half over and traders are looking at the new crop scenarios. Will Mother Nature turn nasty? Oil production has been supported by growth and dollar, the barrel is more than double the lows of earlier this year. The Fed seems to be set to raise the interest rates in December. Nevertheless, political changes (Brexit, Trump, French and German elections) and Third Party Risk continue to cause headaches for the trading companies.

Plenty of Work – VR-People

United Kingdom democracy has played an interesting turn on voting to leave the EU. First Article 50 has to be triggered and then bi-lateral agreements made, hopefully amicably but may take years. Greenland left in 1985, taking two years to negotiate with a population of 55’000, and only one product: fish.

Too early to know what it means for employment contacts but we feel sure all parties still want the best people in the best place!
